Account & Profile
Do I need an account to look around?
No. You can browse installers and consultants without an account. You'll need one to post a job, message, or be listed.
Can I change my preferred language?
Yes. Go to Account and choose English, Spanish, or Both. It's used when you tap Translate on a chat message.
Why isn't my public profile link showing?
Your public profile link appears once you've saved a profile. Complete the profile editor first.
Finding Installers
How does search work?
Search matches installers by trade and by the zip codes they serve. Try nearby zips if results are thin.
What do the trust badges mean?
Identity Verified, Background Checked, Licensed, Insured, and Top Rated are review signals shown on profiles. They are helpful indicators, not guarantees of work quality.
Posting Jobs
What makes a good job post?
A clear trade, a few sentences about the work, your zip code, and photos. The more specific you are, the better the responses.
Who can see my job?
Installers whose service area or selection includes your job. Your exact address is never part of the post.
Opportunities
What is an interview opportunity?
It means a homeowner shortlisted you for their job. Unlocking it opens messaging so you can discuss the work. It does not guarantee you'll be hired.
How many installers can a homeowner select?
Up to 3 installers per job.
Payments / Unlocking
What am I paying for when I unlock?
The unlock fee covers access to the interview — messaging with that homeowner about that job. It is not a commission on the work.
Does Installrr handle payment for the work itself?
No. You arrange payment for the project directly with the homeowner.
Messaging
Why can't I message an installer yet?
Messaging opens for a job once the installer unlocks the interview opportunity.
Can I translate messages?
Yes. Tap Translate on a message to see it in your preferred language alongside the original.
Team Projects
What is a Team Project?
A Team Project groups several trades under one remodel so you can track each trade's status, share photos, and keep notes in one place.
What does flagging an issue do?
It marks a trade as blocked so everyone on the project can see something needs attention before work continues.
Remodeling Consultants
When might I need a consultant?
When a project involves several trades, a large budget, or decisions you're unsure about. A consultant helps you plan and evaluate.
Is a consultant my contractor?
No. Consultants provide guidance and recommendations. They are not acting as contractors, architects, engineers, or code officials unless separately licensed and engaged in those capacities.
Reviews
Who can leave a review?
A homeowner who worked with the installer through Installrr, after the conversation exists.
Notifications
What triggers a notification?
New messages, being selected for a job, opportunity updates, and Team Project activity. The bell in the header shows unread counts.
Trust & Safety
Does Installrr supervise the work?
No. Installrr is a marketplace. It does not supervise or guarantee work performed by installers.
Licensing & Permits
Do I need a permit?
Permits are commonly required for electrical, plumbing, roofing, and structural work. Requirements vary by city and county — check locally before work begins.
